The first guests at the next Book Club on Thursday 9 June have been confirmed: Thomas Manneke(NL) and Arthur Bondar (UKR), Rik Suermondt (NL) en Luuk Huiskes (NL) and with Skype Crofton Black(UK) and Edmund Clarke(UK).
Buy your ticket soon to avoid disappointment – the last Book Club sold out fast. Book Club #6 focuses on projects that have captured (the identity of) a place, city, country or region. Time, and the changes it brings about, also play an important role, set against a particular event or era.
Guests:
Dutch photographer Thomas Manneke will talk about his book ‘Amsterdam’. Also attending is Ukrainian photographer Arthur Bondar. He grew up next to ‘The Exclusion Zone’, a 30km (282,700 hectares) area around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant that exploded in 1986. Thirty years after the disaster, he went back to the area and visited the zone. The visit resulted in the book ‘Shadow of Wormwood’.

About the Book Club:
Four times a year, FOTODOK organises the FOTODOK Book Club, an evening in which photographer Rob Hornstra shares his passion for photo books.
During each Book Club, three books are discussed with makers, designers and other (photography) professionals, live or via Skype. Photo books are also for sale during the evening (and can be signed!). There is always a link to FOTODOK’s exhibitions.
The FOTODOK Book Club starts promptly at 20:00 in the Utrechts Archief, Hamburgerstraat 28, across the street from FOTODOK. The special guests will be announced at the event and on our website www.fotodok.org
