On Thursday the first of June the 10thedition of FOTODOK’s Bookclub will take place. Four times a year photographer and photo book aficionado Rob Hornstra shares his passion for photo books with us. Throughout the evening Hornstra interviews three guests: photographers, designers and other professionals. All of the discussed photo books will be available in our pop-up bookstore, which also gives you a perfect opportunity to get them signed right away!
Awoïska van der Molen (NL) will talk about her new book Blanco, which is the successor of her previous and successful photo book Sequester. Van der Molen is nominated for this years prestigious Deutsche Börse Photography Prize.
We will also talk with Peter van Agtmael (USA) through skype about his book Buzzing at the Sil. Van Agtmael is a member of the prestigious Magnum Photo’s and photographs all around the world covering subjects like race, conflicts, identity and power. Bussing at the Sil is the follow-up of his last, renowned book Disco Night Sept 11.
Third guest of tonight is designer and publisher Rob van Hoesel. Van Hoesel founded his publishing house The Eriskay Connection (TEC) in 2011. Since then they have published an impressive catalogue of well received photo books. The last couple of years TEC books have consistently earned a spot on ‘Best of the Year’ lists photo book collectors like so much. Rob Hornstra will talk with Van Hoesel about a couple of his latest publications, and on the challenges of combining designing and publishing books.
