The war in and around Gaza is a catastrophe unfolding before the eyes of the world. At the same time, much remains hidden. However, the images that reach us do show how the unrestrained violence threatens and destroys the lives of countless people. Their fate touches us and raises questions that cry out for answers.

Let Love Rule

FOTODOK is deeply saddened by all human loss and horrified by all atrocities. We condemn all forms of anti semitic, anti-Palestinian and islamophobic hate. A moral catastrophe is taking place in front of our eyes. Palestinian citizens are not protected by the international laws all our governments created to safeguard civilians in war situations.

Open call Fotodok Book club

Since 2015, photographer and photo book lover Rob Hornstra shares his passion for photo books with a wide audience four times a year. In 2018 Sterre Sprengers joined the Book Club as co- presenter. And that was nice for Rob and it made the Book Club even more fun. Sterre will stop after the 31st edition of the Book Club now that she fulfills a new function in her work at the Correspondent. We are therefore looking for a new co-host for the FOTODOK Book Club.

Re-enactment publication

The first issue of the Quaderni series of the Donata Pizzi Collection is in collaboration with FOTODOK of Utrecht and investigates the practice of re-enactment.
Two introductory texts guide us through a general overview of the history of Dutch and Italian re-enactment in photography. To follow an in-depth look at the projects with artists interviews by the curators accompanied by an iconographic tour that includes the works but also backstage moments and final installations.

FOTODOK’s talent program Lighthouse offers ten emerging photographers the possibility to develop exceptional ideas into compelling project plans. Each participant has a good dose of motivation and an affinity with socially-engaged themes. FOTODOK is happy to announce that we are a new member of Futures! Futures is a “photography platform that pools the resources and talent programmes of cultural institutions across Europe in order to support new talents.” It is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
