La Source des femmes
Set in the present day, La Source des femmes (2011) by director Radu Mihaileanu is a film about a small village somewhere between North Africa and the Middle East. The women fetch water from a spring in the mountains in the blazing sun. They have done so since the beginning of time. Leila, a young bride, encourages the women to launch a love strike: no more cuddles or sex until the men bring running water to the village.
