{"id":40025,"date":"2026-06-16T08:17:29","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T08:17:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fotodok.org\/event\/a-spell-bundle-manifesting-queer-futurity\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T08:39:31","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T08:39:31","slug":"a-spell-bundle-manifesting-queer-futurity","status":"publish","type":"event_listing","link":"https:\/\/www.fotodok.org\/en\/event\/a-spell-bundle-manifesting-queer-futurity\/","title":{"rendered":"A Spell Bundle \u2013 Manifesting Queer Futurity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The exhibition <em>A Spell Bundle \u2013 Manifesting Queer Futurity<\/em> is on view at Clublokaal as part of the 12th edition of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bredaphoto.nl\/nl\/bredaphoto-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BredaPhoto Festival<\/a><\/span> from 11 September until 25 October 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Inspired by the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cruising_Utopia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">influential publication<\/span><\/a> <em>Cruising Utopia: The Then and There of Queer Futurity<\/em> (2009) by <strong>Jos\u00e9 Esteban Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>, the project reflects on the idea of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jos%C3%A9_Esteban_Mu%C3%B1oz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>queer futurity<\/em><\/a><\/span>: the tangible possibility of imagining and shaping a more just, inclusive, and joyful world beyond the limitations of the present. In the context of increasingly fascist and anti-queer rhetoric, this act of imagining becomes an essential form of resistance and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Worldbuilding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>world-building<\/em><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>A Spell Bundle \u2013 Manifesting Queer Futurity<\/em> brings together works by artists <strong>Donja Nasseri<\/strong>, <strong>Ebun Sodipo<\/strong>, <strong>Julius Thissen<\/strong>, <strong>Nayara Leite<\/strong>, and <strong>S*an D. Henry-Smith<\/strong>. Weaving together personal narratives, political discourse, and archival research, their projects pay homage to queer ancestors.
