LOST TERRITORIES
Lost Territories: Tracing Imperial Violence is a group exhibition by Sputnik Photos, an internationally renowned collective of photographers based in Poland. For nearly twenty years, Sputnik’s work has explored the social, cultural, and political transformations of the former Eastern Bloc, with a focus on East-Central Europe and Central Asia.
Lost Territories: Tracing Imperial Violence brings together recent bodies of work by six members of the collective: Jan Brykczyński, Karolina Gembara, Michał Łuczak, Rafał Milach, Adam Pańczuk, and Agnieszka Rayss. In parallel, it revisits Sputnik Photos’ long-term Lost Territories project—an ever-growing, unfinished archive developed over the past nearly two decades. Finally, FOTODOK and the collective have also invited Ukrainian artist Maria Matiashova to contribute her work EMPIRE EXPIRE to the presentation.
